This week I am providing you with some information that will guide and inform you for the next few weeks as we count down to final exams.
- Vaccines and Exam Scheduling. UMW’s health district, the Rappahannock Health District, has moved into category 1c which includes employees of institutions of higher education. UMW student employees and students who are eligible in other categories have begun scheduling their vaccinations. This is great news. Before you schedule your vaccines, however, mark your final exam time slots on your calendar now so that you do not encounter a scheduling conflict. If you are a UMW student employee and have not yet scheduled a vaccination shot, please complete this form.
- COVID positivity rates on the rise: How lovely to have this gorgeous weather outside! It is easy to lose sight of how important MMDC remains. COVID cases are actually going up across the region and across the nation, which I share as a cautionary reminder. UMW’s cases are still remarkably low; in fact, our local health district, the Rappahannock Area Health Department (RAHD), has lauded you and all of UMW for “handling things extraordinarily well.” So, keep it up!
- Commencement(s). We are moving forward with our plans to hold a series of Commencement ceremonies in the Recreation Field for members of the Class of 2021, as well as the Class of 2020. We have set aside May 6-9 for these celebrations. Check here for more information, and please RSVP if you are part of the class of 2021 (Summer 2020, Fall 2020, and Spring 2021 graduates) at the link on that page.
- University Dining Discount Coupon Books. If you are running out of meals or flex dollars, UMW has specially priced discount coupons to purchase meals: Meals & Deals Coupon Books.
Attached is the poster for Islamic Cultural Celebration 2021. And remember, our outdoor movie nights are this Friday and Saturday on Jefferson Square! Popcorn and drinks will be provided. Registration here.
All the best for a great week.
