The management and entrepreneurship major at Mary Washington provides the foundation to start a business in for-profit, non-profit, and public sector contexts, or be a leader in any organization. Building from the common core classes it focuses in on the foundations of entrepreneurship, organizational behavior, development and change, and entrepreneurial venture creation. The major equips students with\u00a0comprehensive understanding and competency in management functions, coupled with vital entrepreneurial mindset and skills crucial for fostering innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students majoring in Management and Entrepreneurship who complete all requirements earn the degree of Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Business Administration with a major in Management and Entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Areas of Study<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

UMW\u2019s bachelor\u2019s program in business administration lets you major in accounting, general business, management and entrepreneurship, or marketing. In addition, the program covers information systems and applications, applied statistics and business research, legal environment of business, principles of management, federal taxation, organizational behavior, human resource management, decision analysis, principles of finance, commercial law, consumer behavior, leadership theory and practice, negotiation, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Career Opportunities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Management and entrepreneurship majors start their own businesses, or launch\u00a0startups, work in large or medium-sized organizations to develop new and innovative products or services, work in finance industry and with investment firms to support upcoming new ventures, engage in social entrepreneurship by creation of new ventures that address community or social issues, or engage in family business management by taking leadership roles in family-owned businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
