Cybersecurity during the Summer Enrichment Program
We are excited to announce that the Introduction to Cybersecurity course originally planned for the Summer Enrichment Program has been expanded!
Thanks to the efforts of the instructors – Dr. Marshall and Dr. Wu – and generous contributions from the Commonwealth Cyber Initative (CCI) NoVa Node, we are offering an expanded
curriculum and can provide financial support to some students.
Students in the cybersecurity class will follow an engaging curriculum which addresses the cybersecurity concepts recommended by the well-known GenCyber program, supported by the National Security Agency and the National Science Foundation. These activities require more hands-on time and exploration than can be accomplished in one 90-minute class period, so our cybersecurity course will meet for two class periods instead of one!
The CCI NoVA Node has awarded Dr. Marshall and Dr. Wu a grant providing supplements to the tuition costs for students registered for the cybersecurity course.
The SEP tuition may be reduced from $950 to $450 for up to 20 students.
We aspire to have an inclusive and diverse group of students in the program. No specific prior experience with computer science or training in cybersecurity is needed. Female students and students from underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
