Academic Excellence<\/h2>\n

U.S. News & World Report has ranked UMW sixth among public southern universities in the \u201cTop Public Regional Universities \u2013 South\u201d category in its 2017 edition of America\u2019s Best Colleges.<\/p>\n

Location, Location, Location<\/h2>\n

We are within an hour\u2019s drive of both Washington, D.C., and Richmond, Va., providing you with unique internships, research excursions, or recreational opportunities. You can also head west to see Virginia\u2019s Blue Ridge Mountains, or east to visit the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean beaches. In addition, the City of Fredericksburg offers an exciting mix of history, culture, and recreational activities.<\/p>\n

Extensive Choices<\/h2>\n

Summer Term offers nearly 200 courses and we have expanded the number of online options. Our courses are taught by master teachers. More than 90 percent of our faculty members have earned doctorate or other terminal degrees in their fields. We do not have graduate teaching assistants. Since 2006, we have had four faculty members receive Fulbright Awards to teach abroad.<\/p>\n

Save Money<\/h2>\n

Fiske Guide to Colleges 2017 designated UMW as a \u201cBest Buy School,\u201d making it one of only two colleges in Virginia and the District of Columbia reaching this distinction. In addition, USA Today placed UMW at the number 10 spot in their list of the \u201cTop Ten in Virginia.\u201d<\/p>\n
