Academic Excellence<\/h2>

U.S. News & World Report has ranked UMW sixth among public southern universities in the “Top Public Regional Universities – South” category in its 2017 edition of America’s Best Colleges.<\/p>

Location, Location, Location<\/h2>

We are within an hour’s drive of both Washington, D.C., and Richmond, Va., providing you with unique internships, research excursions, or recreational opportunities. You can also head west to see Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, or east to visit the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean beaches. In addition, the City of Fredericksburg offers an exciting mix of history, culture, and recreational activities.<\/p>

Extensive Choices<\/h2>

Summer Term offers nearly 200 courses and we have expanded the number of online options. Our courses are taught by master teachers. More than 90 percent of our faculty members have earned doctorate or other terminal degrees in their fields. We do not have graduate teaching assistants. Since 2006, we have had four faculty members receive Fulbright Awards to teach abroad.<\/p>

Fiske Guide to Colleges 2017 designated UMW as a “Best Buy School,” making it one of only two colleges in Virginia and the District of Columbia reaching this distinction. In addition, USA Today placed UMW at the number 10 spot in their list of the “Top Ten in Virginia.”<\/p>

Each of UMW’s three colleges is offering a strong schedule of undergraduate and graduate courses and many are being offered in a fully online format.<\/span>

The latest version of the Summer Session Guide to Registration<\/a> is now available. This short booklet provides an overview of the summer session, contains the calendar of dates, outlines major summer session policies, and provides information about tuition and other expenses.<\/p>
