We examined the proposed questions
for administrators. They seem perfectly reasonable
as a starting point, although they are not all equally
important to our committee.
Here are the questions:
MWC and JMC Administrators
1. What are the major problems
that you see developing in your administrative area
as the institution moves to university status?
2. Ideally, what administrative
structure would address these problems?
a) in the near term (0-5 yrs)
b) in the long term (5-10 yrs)
3. What would be the
most effective administrative organizational structure
for the new university? Which functional units
should remain merged? Which should be separated
between the two campuses?
4. Does your office see
any fundamental differences between the services
provided to the two campuses?
5. Are there things that
are needed in your area that we are not currently
providing to either or both campuses?
6. Can you identify resources
(staff, space and/or funds) that will be needed
by or that can be deleted from your administrative
area as the university develops? Identify
the parameter that will trigger the change.
a. 0-5 yrs
b. 5-10 yrs
We also looked at the list of potential
interviewees from Rosemaryís committee. This
list doesnít match our list exactly. For example,
we would have much less interest in what Bill Anderson,
Bernie Chirico, and Sabrina Johnson would have to
say about academic services than others on the list.
We added Stephanie Smith, head of disabilities services,
to the list.

It also seems to us that we might
benefit from having people with overlapping responsibilities
talk with us together. For example, David
Ayersman, Carol Martin, and Mark Saferstone.
Other group interviews might include Meta Braymer,
Phil Hall, and John Morello or Karen Hartman and
Roy Strohl.
