New Business: The task of the committee
for this semester
Questions we might want to ask
the faculty at both campus (building visits planned
for the Steering Committee)
- Survey questions to faculty/survey
questions for other sectors
- Focus interview with selected
members of the faculty and administration
- Data analysis of survey questions.
Questions to be asked directly of
the faculty (interviews, focus groups, building visits)
- What is your opinion of the present
system of governance on your campus?
- What is your opinion of maintaining
two separate systems of governance for each campus?
- In terms of faculty governance,
where if at all, do you think the two campuses
ought to connect?
- What do you know about the academic
offerings (programs and degree certificates) at
JMC?
- How do you think the development
of additional programs and degree certificates
might affect the current separate
governance systems?
- How can the two campuses avoid
duplication of academic offerings?
- Do you feel the faculty has adequate
opportunity to participate in decision making
regarding academic planning?
- Should the faculty have greater
authority over admissions policy?
- What areas of authority over
long-range fiscal planning should the faculty
have?
- What areas of authority should
the faculty exercise over long-range academic
planning?
- What other areas of concern regarding
faculty authority do you have?
- What other areas of concern regarding
the current separate governance systems do you
have?
- With the proliferation of distance
learning courses what concerns you about faculty
protection of intellectual property?
