NEW PROGRAMS COMMITTEE
July 18, 2001
Present: Meta Braymer, Gail Brooks, Phil Hall, George Meadows, Larry Penwell
-Larry Penwell presented two documents: a list of all questions to be asked, broken down by topic area and listing the committee responsible for answering each question, a list of the questions to be asked/answered by the New Programs Committee, once again broken down by topic area and listing who would be asked these questions.
- After discussion, it was decided that the committee would deal with the questions to be asked of the analog schools first, then move to the questions asked of focus groups/students/others.
- We discussed and finalized the list of schools we wish to study and possibly visit. These are the analog schools, places we think have been in similar circumstances/situtations at some point in their development. They include Christopher Newport, Florida Gulf Coast, Hamline, Harpur (now the Arts and Sciences college of SUNY Binghamton), Florida Atlantic University, and Johns Hopkins.
Phil Hall will make the initial contact at each school, introducing the committee, letting them know what we are hoping to do, and setting the stage for further calls, interviews, and visits.
Phil will report back to the committee and then we will divide our questions, with people on the committee calling appropriate people at the other schools, asking our questions, getting ideas, thoughts, suggestions, and arranging for further contact.
The committee decided that we will be meeting again as soon as Phil has made the phone calls and established contacts with the analog schools.
