New Programs Committee
Executive Summary
2000-2001

September 18, 2000 Meeting:
Establish the larger context for the committee's
work ( the self- study process, going to university
status), committee's charge, proposed self-study
timeline, roles of other SACS committees.

October 23, 2000 Meeting:
President Anderson and others address
SACS committees to launch the process.
|
November 15, 2000 Meeting:
Discuss October 23rd meeting, report from
committee members on individual assignments (Pam
- analogs, Mehdi - centers, Gail - future trends,
George - survey of department chairs), respond to
Steve Greenlaw's Mission and Image Committee request
(Do we have changes to recommend? Does the
mission need to be broadened?, brainstorm research
questions.

December 5, 2000 Meeting:
Draft research questions in four categories
(Oversight, Organization, and Collaboration; Development;
Methods and Delivery; Mission and Demand Issues).

January 31, 2000 Meeting:
Discuss question from Roy Smith's Academic
Affairs Committee (How many new programs do we predict),
how Larry Penwell can support us, how we find answers/collect
data for our research questions.

February 28, 2001 Meeting:
Continue discussion of question from Roy
Smith's committee and how we find answers/collect
data for our research questions, report from Mehdi
on centers.

March 23, 2001 Meeting:
Approve "working document" response to
Roy Smith's committee and how we find answers/collect
data for our research questions, report from Donald
on demographics, guidance from Larry on what's next.

Reports on phone survey content (Pam and
Gail) and student survey content (George and Mehdi).
