SACS-COC Self-Study Steering
Committee Meeting
November 10, 2000
|
1) SACS approved our proposal on October 30, 2000 |
2) October 23rd meeting debrief. We discussed concerns
raised by both the lack of questions from committee
members and the feelings from committee members that
the presentations hadn't meet their expectations. |
3) Research Questions and Data Sources: We discussed
current efforts by committees to develop specific
questions that they felt they needed answered before
they could make specific recommendations regarding
changes in their assigned areas. We also noted the
need to identify data sources, some of which include
studies conducted by Marty Wilder's operation, and
the senior exit survey conducted by Roy Weinstock's
office. We discussed some of the questions that are
going to be critical in our making recommendations,
e.g. finances, academic autonomy, administrative structure.
We also discussed the constraints on our recommendations:
e.g. Finances, SCHEV and SACS criteria. |
4) Revisions to the website: At Ernie Ackermann's
recommendation, our website has undergone a major
up-grade. With the assistance of Webmaster Sharon
Palmatory, it is also available through a simpler
and more aptly named url: http://www.umw.edu/mwc_sacs/
The new url will be used in an article that will appear
in MWC Today, inviting alumni to sign on and join
the discussion. |
5) Action items: Larry is to
draft some sample questions as examples for the committees. |
