Following is a list of some questions to be answered
by
the University Relations Committee/Staff/Analog Research:
1. What are (will be) the characteristics (demographics,
economic status, etc.) of alumni at each campus?
2. What other schools have faced similar problems
and what solutions did they come up with?
3. How did the mission and image of other schools
change after they moved to university status? What
were the positive/negative changes? What was unexpected?
4. What did other schools do with respect to separate
images, publications, commencement, etc.
5. What are (smallish) universities which originated
from liberal arts colleges, and which colleges still
maintain a strong identity as a college?
6. Which colleges still maintain a strong identity
as a liberal arts institution? E.g. Harper College/Binghamton
University - 1965. How does Harper College maintain
such a strong sense of identity within the larger
university? How did the university build on the
strong foundation provided by Harper?
7. What should be the structure of the alumni relations
programs in the new university?
8. What should be the structure of the development
programs in the new university?
9. What constitutes an alumnus/alumna at each college?
(Do we need to be more specific than college?
10. Who are the targets of our development efforts?
11. What are the goals of the development program
now?Ó ÏWhat will the goals be 10 years from now?
12. What is a friend of MWC? Who will be a friend
of the University? What are the characteristics
of friends?
13. How should marketing and image concerns be
addressed? What kind of marketing do we need? Admissions,
Alumni, Development, Community
15. How do we maintain and develop our reputation
for excellence in all of our academic endeavors?
16. How important is creating a larger endowment?
very important, moderately important, etc.
17. What are the important factors that you consider
when selecting a college or university? (Question
from New Programs Committee. Data available from
past research of prospective students for each campus.)
How do we communicate the change to university
status.. . to alumni and other constituency groups?
