Gari Melchers Home and Studio Travels to the Berkshires, September 21-24

Gari Melchers Home and Studio at Belmont will host an “Authors and Artists” bus trip to Massachusetts on September 21-24. The trip will highlight many homes, studios and galleries in the Berkshires area of the state.

Participants will stay at the historic Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge, one of the few remaining inns in continuous use since the 18th century. The itinerary includes visits to the Norman Rockwell Museum, Edith Wharton’s The Mount Estate and Gardens, Herman Melville’s “Arrowhead” home, the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute and the Mark Twain House and Museum.

The cost for members of Friends of Belmont is $785 per person, double occupancy, which includes bus transportation, driver gratuity, three nights accommodation with continental breakfast, one dinner, lunch at The Mount and museum fees. Gari Melchers Home and Studio is a 26-acre estate and former residence of the artist Gari Melchers and his wife Corinne. The property, which is operated by the University of Mary Washington, is both a Virginia Historic Landmark and a National Historic Landmark. Located at 224 Washington St. in Falmouth, Va., a quarter mile west of the intersection of U.S. 1 and U.S. 17, it is open daily with an admission charge.
