A great day of celebration for the entire Mary Washington community! All are welcome to join us in this momentous occasion.

Location
The University of Mary Washington’s longstanding tradition is to hold Commencement on Ball Circle, the epicenter of campus life.
Time
- 7 a.m.: Field opens to access guest seating.
- 9 a.m.: Processional begins.
- Noon: Ceremony will conclude.
Graduating Classes
The ceremony is for those who earn their bachelor’s or master’s degree in August 2023, December 2023 and May 2024.
Tickets
Everyone is welcome and guest tickets are not required. Guest seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Live Stream
Live video of the 2024 Commencement Ceremony will be available on the homepage of the Commencement website on Saturday, May 11 and indoors at multiple locations in-person on campus.

Reminders
Commencement is a celebration of our graduates and their efforts to complete a degree from UMW. In accordance with this purpose and the formality of the occasion, interruptions of speakers and disruptions in the audience are not permitted.
Those attending UMW’s commencement exercises agree to adhere to UMW’s ASPIRE Values and follow University policies including applicable aspects of the Code of Conduct and the policy on Expressive Activity. Individuals whose actions are inconsistent with these values and policies may be asked to leave the commencement ceremony.
Consistent with the focus on our graduates and to maximize the sightlines of participants and guests, we ask that all attending the commencement ceremony refrain from bringing banners, signs, flags, and other items which might obstruct views.
