UMW accepts both The Common Application and the UMW Application. Please apply along with an essay, application fee, or approved waiver. We can’t wait to get your application! We’ll send you an email when we receive it and let you know if anything’s missing. Please know that it’s your responsibility to make sure your file is complete and keep copies of all application materials.

The Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS) degree is designed for adults whose life and/or experiences may require a non-traditional approach to completing their degree. Grow your career and gain traction with the flexible curriculum that the BLS provides.
This plan is designed for the student who wants a traditional four-year residential experience while earning a BSN.

If you’ve earned a high-school diploma, GED, or equivalent, you can apply to transfer to UMW from any two- or four-year school, no matter where you are in your college career. Check out our transfer agreements with various community colleges.
With an associate’s degree and a 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA, you may qualify for UMW’s Guaranteed Admissions Agreement with the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) and Richard Bland College.
Each fall, we typically enroll 300 students from the Virginia Community College System and other schools, both from inside and outside Virginia, into UMW’s bachelors of arts and sciences programs. The average GPA for admitted transfer students in fall 2021 was 3.31.
Students can also choose a non-degree enrollment program, allowing non-degree-seeking students to take classes when space is available.
