Gari Melchers Home and Studio To Offer Reduced Admission Rates For January and February
December 9, 2008Due to the temporary closing of the main house for repairs, Gari Melchers Home and Studio at Belmont will offer reduced admission fees for January and February of 2009. The new, temporary rates will be $5 for adults and free for students 18 and under. Additionally, the museum will offer free admission on Wednesdays during these months. The Visitor Center, Museum Shop, Studio, gardens and grounds will remain open to the public daily from 10 to 5 p.m.
Gari Melchers Home and Studio is a 27-acre estate and former residence of the artist Gari Melchers and his wife Corinne. The property, which is operated by the University of Mary Washington, is both a Virginia Historic Landmark and a National Historic Landmark. Located at 224 Washington St. in Falmouth, Va., a quarter mile west of the intersection of U.S. 1 and U.S. 17, it is open daily with an admission charge. The museum also serves as the official Stafford County Visitor Center.
