Gari Melchers Home and Studio To Offer Architectural Photography Workshop

Gari Melchers Home and Studio is offering an Architectural Photography Workshop on Saturday, March 29, from 9 to 3 p.m. in the Studio Pavilion.
Photographer Mike Burkhart will instruct participants on elements of good architectural photography. The workshop will focus on perspective, composition, depth of field, lighting and equipment options. Classroom demonstration will be accompanied by outdoor photo sessions on Belmont’s grounds.
A basic knowledge of photography (film or digital) and the use of the camera’s exposure controls are recommended. Class enrollment is limited to 20 students. Pre-registration and payment are required. The cost of the class is $50 for members of Friends of Belmont and $65 for non-members. Gari Melchers Home and Studio is a 26-acre estate and former residence of the artist Gari Melchers and his wife Corinne. The property, which is operated by the University of Mary Washington, is both a Virginia Historic Landmark and a National Historic Landmark. Located at 224 Washington St. in Falmouth, Va., a quarter mile west of the intersection of U.S. 1 and U.S. 17, it is open daily with an admission charge.
