Princeton Review Lists UMW Among Nation's Best Colleges

The University of Mary Washington has been named to the Princeton Review’s 2010 edition of “The Best 371 Colleges.” The Princeton Review is a New York City-based education services company that annually publishes guidebooks ranking colleges, business and law schools.

Only about 15 percent of America’s 2,500 four-year colleges and two Canadian colleges are profiled in the popular college guide. It includes detailed profiles of the colleges with school rating scores in eight categories based on surveys of students attending the colleges.

In January, The Princeton Review listed UMW in its 100 “Best Value Colleges for 2009,” featuring the university among the nation’s 50 “Best Value Public Colleges.” The selection criteria for that ranking covered more than 30 factors in the areas of academics, costs of attendance and financial aid.

The University of Mary Washington has seen its academic reputation gain national recognition through consistently high rankings in several selective college guidebooks including Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, U.S. News & World Report, The Fiske Guide to Colleges and Barron’s Profiles of American Colleges and Universities.
