Parents and students can sign up for umw Alerts

UMW is committed to the safety of the entire University community. For this reason, UMW has purchased an alert notification system that can communicate emergency information in a matter of seconds to anyone who enrolls - whether they are on or off campus - via any text-enabled device, including cell phones, pagers, email, Blackberry, voice calling, and fax. The system also provides for two-way messaging capabilities and it gives the University the ability to communicate with neighboring towns, cities, and counties for information exchange and local updates as needed on catastrophic emergencies.

Any UMW student, faculty or staff member, parent, or alumnus may opt into the system. It is easy to enroll: simply go to alert.umw.edu and follow the prompts. Please enroll as soon as possible and encourage your student to do the same.
