Commencement

You are here: UMW / Commencement / Everwall Entries / Let us unite our hearts in prayer and entrust to the hands of the Lord all those who are graduating this spring from high school, college, graduate schools, and professional and technical schools: May God who began this good work in them carry it through to completion, enabling them to use their talents to the fullest. May God give them the grace to make wise choices and to be faithful to their commitments, always confident in the support of those who love them. May God bless them with discomfort at easy answers, half-truths, and superficial relationships, so that they will be a friend and ally to all. May God bless them with anger at injustice, oppression, and exploitation of people, so that they will work for justice, equality, and peace. May God bless them with tears to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation, and war, so that they will reach out their hand to comfort others and change pain into joy. May God bless them with the foolishness to think that they can make a difference in the world, so that they will do the things which others tell them cannot be done. May their integrity, talent and passion be a gift to the world and may the Spirit of God be with them always. – adapted from a prayer by Fr. Michael Graham SJ #fxbg #fxbgva #fredericksburgva #christian #lutheran #elca #vasynod #classof2020 #graduation #marywashington #umw #umw2020 #germanna #gcc2020
