JFMC's staff said that impactful experiences like the Social Justice Fall Break Trip help students connect the dots between past and present-day civil rights struggles. The inaugural trip in 2017 took the UMW group to Selma, Alabama, where they crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge, site of the brutal 1965 Bloody Sunday police attack against civil rights protestors.
