Parents of Graduating students: you did it! You’ve made that final tuition payment. You’ve made plans for graduation day. You’re looking ahead to what post-college life will look like for both you and your student. So what’s next?
There are many opportunities for both you and your graduate to stay connected with Mary Washington, and we hope you will become involved and take advantage of some of the services available to alumni and parents.
All alumni are automatically part of the Alumni Association, and there are never any membership fees. Listed below are some of the many services available to you as a lifetime member of the UMW Alumni Association.
- Connect with other alumni Check in with UMW through the alumni.umw.edu website, or email us at alumni@umw.edu. By becoming a member of the My MaryWash alumni online community, you’ll be able to post updates as well as search for other alumni. Like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter (@UMWAlumni) and Instagram (@umw_alumni).
- Alumni Benefits Register for your Alumni ID cards to take advantage of benefits available only to UMW grads. Visit alumni.umw.edu/benefits for a full list of benefits.
- Upcoming events Come back for the numerous events, including Homecoming, the Young Alumni Eagle Crawl, Reunion Weekend, networking events, Mary Talk lectures, the Multicultural Fair, career fairs, and more.
- Join a UMW Regional Network With more than 15 networks around the country, it’s easier than ever to stay in touch with fellow alumni and participate in events in your area. If you’re interested in getting involved, email pheckel@umw.edu.
- Join a UMW Affinity Group Affinity Groups are organized groups of alumni with shared interests and common bonds that plan and organize events throughout the year with the goal of staying connected with each other and the University. For more information on Affinity Groups, visit alumni.umw.edu/affinitygroups.
- Young Alumni Council The mission of the Young Alumni Council is to foster and sustain relationships with UMW young alumni with the intention of keeping them engaged and actively involved with the University. Council members are graduates from the last ten years who are under the age of 35 and serve as ambassadors for the Office of Alumni Relations as well as advocates for the interests of young alumni. To learn more, visit alumni.umw.edu/YAC.
- Reunion Weekend Come celebrate your class year reunion with us at Reunion Weekend 2018! All classes are invited back to campus in early June to participate in a variety of events and activities with fellow alumni. Get all the details and register now at alumni.umw.edu/reunionweekend.
