Cold weather advisories are in effect for the Fredericksburg area overnight with frigid wind chills through the weekend. Exercise caution as you navigate campus.
As snow removal is ongoing, UMW snow emergency parking restrictions continue through the weekend and will be lifted by parking area. Do not park on College Ave. as both sides of the street still need full clearance.
Residential students should look for additional announcements from Residence Life on priority timing for moving vehicles to residential student spaces.
As previously announced, UMW campuses (Fredericksburg, Dahlgren, and Stafford) continue virtual operations through Friday, Jan. 30, with virtual class options.
UMW is open this weekend with limited operations and parking restrictions. Please allow space and time for Facilities to continue clearing snow and ice.
Many events on Saturday, Jan. 31, have proactively postponed, so be sure to check event schedules into the weekend. The men’s basketball game on Sunday, Feb. 1, at noon is on schedule. Come out to the Ron Rosner Arena to cheer on the Eagles or watch from home via the livestream.
As regularly scheduled services resume, be sure to check for updates and changes to operating hours:
- The Hurley Convergence Center is available for residential students seeking a space to join classes online. You may need your EagleOne card for access. Please use only the cleared paths to access the building. Check the Hurley Convergence Center (HCC) website for updates.
- The Fitness Center hours are shared from Campus Recreationwith updates posted to Instagram.
- Simpson Library has weekend hours available on their website. Check the Simpson Library website for additional updates.
- Student Activities and Engagement has a Friday movie night at 7 p.m. in the Cedric Rucker University Center. Look for additional updates and announcements on the SAEUMW Instagram.
- UMW Dining has reopened The Top of the Cedric Rucker University Center with dine-in options. All-day to-go meals also remain available. Several retail shops are open, including Panera, New York Pizza and Deli, Mein Bowl, and Hissho Sushi. Look for times and updates on UMW Dining on Facebookor join the UMWFoodies by texting 82257.
Again, we appreciate everyone working virtually through offices and classes this week. We are especially grateful to the many essential staff on campus making meals available and working to clear the snow and ice, so we can fully return to normal operations next week.
