UMW Operating Virtually on Monday, March 16 Due to Severe Storms

The Fredericksburg area has a severe weather outlook for Monday, March 16, including a moderate risk for strong isolated thunderstorms, with the potential for strong wind gusts, hail and tornados. UMW Campuses (Fredericksburg, Stafford and Dahlgren) will operate virtually on Monday, March 16.

Classes will not be held in-person on Monday, March 16. Public events and all outdoor events are also cancelled.

Faculty have the discretion to cancel class or switch to another modality or assignment, including holding class virtually. If virtual instruction involves a synchronous element, the meeting time must be during the normal class meeting time. Faculty are responsible for informing students of their intention. However, students should not be penalized if they are unable to attend or complete assignments virtually during the inclement weather period and are responsible for making up any missed assignments.

Employees should work from home (telework) on Monday, March 16, and plan with their supervisor for options. Employees who are designated as essential should report to work as specified by their supervisor.

If your schedule changes due to weather and road conditions in your area, please contact your instructors and supervisors to make alternative arrangements for missed classes or work.
