Fredericksburg, Va. – Susan E. Knick has been named Assistant Vice President for Public Safety and Community Services at the University of Mary Washington. She previously served as senior director for events and conferences management at the university, and she took on the additional duties and new title in January.
Leading the newly formed public safety and community services division at the university, Knick is responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of the university police, university safety and environmental health, risk management, the Jepson Alumni Executive Center, Dodd Auditorium and university-wide venue scheduling. She reports to Richard V. Hurley, acting president and vice president for administration, finance and legislative affairs.
Employed by UMW since 1994, Knick’s background includes service as an officer in the U.S. Army and professional credentials in risk management and conference/event planning. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Rivier College in New Hampshire, a master of education from Boston University and master of human relations from The University of Oklahoma.
Knick resides in Stafford County with her husband, Rick, and stepchildren Ryan and Rachael.
