Fredericksburg, Va. – Gari Melchers Home and Studio is introducing new kid-friendly tours on Saturdays and Sundays from June 16 through Labor Day, September 3.
These special guided tours of Gari Melchers’ art studio and the 1790s Georgian Revival house he and his wife Corinne shared are geared toward school-age children and their families. They will run approximately 45 minutes, not including optional sketching in the restored gardens and grounds.
Family Fun & Learning Tours will take place Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., and Sundays at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. Regular admission prices, $10 per adult and $5 per child age 5 and older, apply. Registration is not necessary. Children will receive a souvenir to remember their visit by.
“Hands-on objects, archival letters, documents and photographs, and an interactive style of learning will hopefully bring alive the art and life of Gari Melchers for young people,” explains Education Coordinator Michelle Crow-Dolby. “I hope both locals and out-of-town tourists will take advantage of this unique opportunity to learn and have fun together at Belmont.”
Gari Melchers Home and Studio is a 26-acre estate and former residence of the artist Gari Melchers and his wife Corinne.
