The Red Storm Drum and Dance Troupe will perform at the University of Mary Washington on Saturday, November 3. The performance, which is part of American Indian Heritage Month, will take place from noon to 3 p.m. in Ball Circle. In the case of rain or inclement weather, the event will be held in Woodard Campus Center, Great Hall. The performance is free and open to the public.
The Red Storm Drum and Dance Troupe, based in Staten Island, N.Y., is made up of Native American performers from different backgrounds who unite to educate people about the history and beauty of their culture. The members, who dress in native regalia, will play flute, dance, beat drums and tell stories during the performances.
Audience members are invited to participate in the performances as well. Also, a collection of original artifacts, a small teepee and an overall demonstration of the life of native people will be displayed.
