Christopher A. Preble, director of foreign policy studies at the Cato Institute, will give a lecture at the University of Mary Washington titled “The Bankruptcy of Bipartisanship: The Future of U.S. Foreign Policy after Iraq.” The lecture will take place on Wednesday, February 20 at 5 p.m. in Combs Hall, Room 139. It is open to the public without charge.
Preble is the director of foreign policy studies at the Cato Institute in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining the Institute, he taught history at St. Cloud State University and at Temple University. Preble was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy and is a veteran of the Gulf War. He has written several books, including “Exiting Iraq: Why the U.S. Must End the Military Occupation and Renew the War Against Al Qaeda” and “John F. Kennedy and the Missile Gap.” Preble’s work has been published in major publications, including USA Today, the Financial Times, the Chicago Sun-Times, and the National Interest. He also has appeared on many television and radio news networks, including CNN, National Public Radio, and the BBC. Preble holds a bachelor’s degree from The George Washington University and a doctorate in history from Temple University.
