The University of Mary Washington has named George Farrar to the position of associate vice president for university relations and director of communications for the University of Mary Washington.
Farrar will coordinate the university’s division of media relations and communications, marketing, and publications, and will act as the university’s spokesperson.
He has more than 30 years of experience in public relations. Before his arrival at Mary Washington earlier this month, Farrar spent nine years with Booz Allen Hamilton, primarily as senior manager of external communications and media relations for the leading strategy and technology consulting firm.
He also served for 27 years with the U.S. Navy as a public affairs officer.
Farrar holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in communication from the University of Oklahoma.
