Caressa Cameron, winner of the Miss America Crown in 2010, will perform with the University of Mary Washington Philharmonic Orchestra on Saturday, April 16. The concert, which is part of the William M. Anderson Jr. Celebrity Series, will be held at 7:30 p.m. in George Washington Hall, Dodd Auditorium.
Tickets are $25 for general admission, $20 for Friends of the Philharmonic.
“I’m really excited about this experience,” said Cameron, a Spotsylvania County native and a graduate of Massaponax High School and Virginia Commonwealth University. “It is my first time singing with a full orchestra.”
She performed during the 2009 presidential inauguration festivities and at the historic Apollo Theater in New York City. Her vocal repertoire is comprised of many genres of music, including pop, classical, jazz, country and gospel.
With the UMW Philharmonic, Cameron will sing Listen, the Dreamgirls ballad that she performed when she competed for the title of Miss America in 2010. The concert will also feature songs like Son of a Preacher Man, Ain’t No Mountain High Enough and Gospel of Grace.
The UMW Philharmonic Orchestra is directed by Kevin P. Bartram and includes both members of the Fredericksburg community and university students.
