Gari Melchers Home and Studio at Belmont will host a juried exhibition of contemporary photographs depicting the buildings and grounds of Belmont from March 18 to May 21, 2017. The museum will begin accepting submissions Monday, January 23.
“Dozens of professional and amateur photographers have used Belmont’s unique architecture and beautiful gardens and woodlands as subjects for their work,” said David Berreth, director of Gari Melcher’s Home and Studio. “This exhibition will provide an opportunity to show this art to the public.”
Belmont Portrayed: Through a Lens follows last year’s anniversary exhibition, Belmont Portrayed, which featured traditional painting media. Exhibition details and entry forms will be available on the museum website by Thursday, December 1. The deadline for submissions is Friday, February 17.
“We are announcing our plans now so that artists can visit during the fall season to create new works if they wish” said Berreth. Photographs from all seasons will be eligible, without date restrictions, so both new and older works will be considered.
Gari Melchers Home and Studio, both a Virginia Historic Landmark and a National Historic Landmark, is located at 224 Washington St. in Falmouth, across the Rappahannock River from Fredericksburg. The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 1 through Oct. 31. From Nov. 1 through March 31, the museum is open daily 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
