The University of Mary Washington has been recognized by Forbes as one of 2018 America’s Top Colleges.
UMW is ranked seventh among Virginia public schools and 205 overall among the 650 four-year colleges and universities that the publication considers the nation’s best. Mary Washington is listed as 64th of the nation’s public colleges and 42nd in the South.

In its 11th year rating top colleges, Forbes compares four-year-colleges based on what it calls outputs: alumni salaries, debt after graduation, retention and graduation rates, debt load upon graduation, alumni salaries and signs of individual success including academic and career accolades. Forbes used data from PayScale.com, College Scorecard and Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS).
