It is never too early for your students to plan on adding an international experience to their UMW academic career.
Here is a sample of UMW programs led by our distinguished faculty available to our students in 2017-18:
- During the upcoming winter break UMW in Nepal will offer our students a chance to use the country as a case study and apply what they learn in class to the current environment and society in Nepal.
- Begin the New Year in South Africa with the UMW in South Africa program touring various locations to reinforce the study of environmental and social sustainability.
- Join faculty in Biological Sciences for Spring Break and discover the fascinating flora and fauna of the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador while on the UMW in the Galapagos
- The College of Business will visit Legon, Ghana over Spring Break. On the UMW in Ghana program students will meet with local companies and interact with their founders.
- The Department of Geography offers again the UMW in Guatemala program over spring break which focuses on community development and cloud forest conservation, ecological understanding, traditional Maya ecological practices, and innovative agro-ecological techniques.
- Led by faculty from the Department of Psychology, London, Paris, Wurzburg, and Vienna are the perfect locations to trace the development of psychology prior to its introduction in the United States.
- Sponsored by the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, students in the UMW in Aix-en-Provence, France summer program will immersed in the culture of historic Aix-en-Provence, founded in 123 B.C. while visiting Cézanne’s home and studio and discovering the colorful countryside of the south of France.
- Students in the College of Business participating in the UMW in Paris summer program will discover French business culture and learn key skills to successful international business interactions in the context of this bustling cultural metropolis.
- Students in the UMW in Spain summer program sponsored by the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures will visit some of Spain’s most beautiful cities and attend cultural events, including the world-famous Running of the Bulls in Pamplona.
Many other students will also be traveling independently to other destinations as they have plans for internships, research, volunteer, and service learning projects. The Center for International Education located in the 4th floor of Lee Hall is the first stop to discover new destinations and academic opportunities.
