As the semester ends, many students are looking forward to continuing their studies abroad and gaining new perspectives, learning with our own faculty, making new friends, and experiencing new cultures, all while earning academic credit.
Cuba welcomes UMW students who will spend two weeks engaging with local communities and discovering the island’s rich culture alongside faculty leaders from the Center for Honor, Leadership and Service.
Sponsored by the Department of English, Linguistics, and Communication, UMW in Bath, England will be of special interest to students of English, Cinema, Creative Writing, History, Education, Pre-Law, or Studio Art.
Led by UMW faculty from the Department of Psychology, London, Paris, Wurzburg, and Vienna are the perfect locations to trace the development of psychology prior to its introduction in the United States.
UMW in France sponsored by the Department of Historic Preservation will travel to Paris with a focus on the urban and architectural history and preservation efforts of the City of Lights.
Sponsored by the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, students in the UMW in Aix-en-Provence, France program will immersed in the culture of historic Aix-en-Provence, founded in 123 B.C. while visiting Cézanne’s home and studio and discovering the colorful countryside of the south of France.
Students in the College of Business participating in the UMW in Paris program will discover French business culture and learn key skills to successful international business interactions in the context of this bustling cultural metropolis.
Students in the UMW in Spain program sponsored by the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures will visit some of Spain’s most beautiful cities and attend cultural events, including the world-famous Running of the Bulls in Pamplona.
Sponsored by the Department of English, Linguistics, and Communication and the Center for Teaching Excellence, UMW in Sweden students will be to getting up-close and personal with Viking history and current gaming technology on this eighteen day Scandinavian experience.

Many other students will also be traveling independently to other destinations as they have plans for internships, volunteer and service learning projects. It is never too early to think about education abroad and the Center for International Education located in the 4th floor of Lee Hall is the first stop to discover new destinations and academic opportunities.
