Chappell Great Lives Lecture Series

Spring 2015: The Twelfth Season of Great Lives!

Since 2004, the Chappell Lecture Series: Great Lives has been offered by the University of Mary Washington each year from January through April. Lectures on a wide and diverse range of figures of historical and cultural significance are presented by eminent authorities from throughout the country. Thanks to a substantial initial endowment and continuing annual support from John Chappell, the program is open to the public free of charge.

All lectures are held in George Washington Hall’s Dodd Auditorium on the Fredericksburg campus of the University.  Programs begin at 7:30 p.m., and include audience Q&A sessions with the speaker and a book-signing by the author/speaker. Books are available for purchase on site.
