The Fredericksburg region is under a winter weather advisory tonight, Sunday, February 22 through Monday, February 23 at 10 a.m. Classes and campus operations on Monday, February 23, will have a delayed opening at 10 a.m. Classes and office operations before 10 a.m. may be held virtually or in another format.
Faculty have the discretion to cancel class or switch to another modality or assignment, including holding class virtually. If virtual instruction involves a synchronous element, the meeting time must be during the normal class meeting time. Faculty are responsible for informing students of their intention. However, students should not be penalized if they are unable to attend or complete assignments virtually during the inclement weather period and are responsible for making up any missed assignments.
Students and faculty may need transition time to travel to campus as we open with in-person operations at 10 a.m. Flexibility in classes this Monday morning is encouraged.
While snow emergency parking restrictions are not in effect overnight, the top level of the parking decks may be closed if snow or ice accumulates in these areas. The Alvey Parking Deck can be accessed via Sunken Road when the top level and Alvey Drive are closed. Please visit the snow and ice management website for more information.
Employees should work from home (telework) during the delayed opening on Monday and plan with their supervisor for options. Employees who are designated as essential should report to work as specified by their supervisor.
If your schedule changes due to weather and road conditions in your area, please contact your instructors and supervisors to make alternative arrangements for missed classes or work.
