Mr. Via grew up in Alexandria where he attended T.C. Williams H.S. (Remember the Titans!). Mr. Via received a bachelor’s degree in Conservation Biology from George Mason University. He also attended a summer abroad with the Virginia Program at Oxford. Mr. Via earned a master’s degree in Natural Resource Management from Oregon State University. In Addition, Mr. Via has a graduate certificate in Fishers Management. Mr. Via is also a Professional Associate in the American Institute of Fishery Research Biologists. Lately, he has been volunteering on special projects and biological research with the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources. Mr. Via got into teaching because he felt that scientific literacy was fading in America. Teaching science seems to be a way he can inspire younger people to become lovers of science. Mr. Via is also a volunteer kayak guide with the Virginia Dept. of Conservation and Recreation where he enjoys leading interpretive tours.
