Advertising Your Event
The Cedric Rucker University Center (CRUC) is a great place to get the word out about your organization, upcoming event, or any services or products you offer.
At the CRUC, we have a variety of ways that you can advertise for your event:
- Kiosks
- Want to get some face time with the UMW community? Kiosk tabling (single tables with 2 chairs in the 2nd floor lobby) is a great way to be seen and heard on campus. There are 3 Kiosks in the lobby- they must be reserved through 25Live, and are only for student organizations and UMW departments. Unauthorized users will be asked to vacate the Kiosk. No flyers or displays may be left at Kiosks outside of the reserved time.
- Flyers
- Using flyers to help promote your event, sell your books, or whatever else you’d like is an easy way to reach CRUC patrons throughout the day. The CRUC has two bulletin boards available for flyer use. At this time, we do not allow the posting of flyers, even for events, anywhere else in the building. Flyers not on bulletin boards will be removed promptly.
- Before posting, please read the policy guidelines for using the CRUC flyer boards, such as receiving an approval stamp on your flyer from the 3rd floor SAE service desk.
- Sandwich Boards
- Sandwich Board advertising may be placed in the vestibule on the Ball Circle side of the 2nd floor lobby, or on the CRUC patio and veranda areas near Ball Circle. Other spaces such as near the elevators may be available, but boards may not block egress to doors or be in violation of fire codes. Advertising must be current and follow the same approval guidelines as flyers through SAE. Sandwich Boards can be requested through SAE.
- Banners
- Want to make a bold statement to the UMW community regarding your club, department, or event? Use a banner! Banners hang in the 2nd floor atrium and allow CRUC patrons to see your promotion at a glance. Banners are hung first-come, first-served at the discretion of the CRUC Facilities and Events manager. Dated banners may be displayed up to two weeks before an event (exceptions may be made if there is space) and take priority over undated. Undated banners may go up and down depending on space. Banners for clubs are requested through MyUMW, and SAE prints them on Thursdays. Departments may print their own – please ask for specifications. Banners must be received by Thursday afternoon. Banners are hung by end of business on Fridays by Concierge Services staff, and are removed after the event ends.
- CRUC TV Monitors
- There are several TV Monitors in the building set up as ZoomRooms by University Communications to promote University events and initiatives. Event promotions on these can be requested through University Communications.
- For any other items, such as collection boxes or larger displays, or for using other temporary locations to put displays or sandwich boards, approval must be requested through the Facility and Event Manager, Ryan Imirie, in Room 209 (behind the Information Desk).
