UMW Admissions Receptions are heading to communities across Virginia this November so prospective students can explore the Mary Wash experience without a trip to campus. Qualified seniors may receive expedited application reviews and on-the-spot admission decisions.

The University of Mary Washington is taking the college search on the road this November, bringing admissions counselors, staff, faculty, current students and alumni to communities across Virginia for a series of Regional Admissions Receptions. UMW heads to:

  • Charlottesville: Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Center at Belvedere
  • Richmond: Thursday, Nov. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen
  • Tidewater: Tuesday, Nov. 17, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Chesapeake Conference Center
  • Fairfax: Thursday, Nov. 19, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Stacy C. Sherwood Community Center

Designed for prospective students and their families, the receptions offer a personal introduction to Mary Washington without requiring a trip to campus. Attendees can learn about UMW’s academic opportunities and student experience, ask questions about applying and financial aid, and hear directly from members of the Mary Wash community.

UMW admissions team members connect with prospective students and families at Regional Admissions Receptions, answering questions about academics, campus life, financial aid and the application process.

For qualified high school seniors, the events can also make the admissions process faster. Students who complete their applications before attending may receive an expedited application review and an admission decision at the reception.

“Regional receptions give students and families the chance to experience the personal attention that defines Mary Washington,” said Sarah Lindberg, director of first-year admission. “We want to meet families where they are, answer their individual questions and help qualified seniors take an exciting next step in their college journey.”

The receptions are also open to prospective students and families at any stage of their college search who want to learn more about UMW.
