In the Spring of 2016, I recall gazing out into the endless dunes of the Sahara Desert and suddenly feeling like my life back in the U.S. was very small.

Making the Most of Winter Break
Ah, the holidays! Family time: board games, feasting with loved ones and a crackling fire in the living room.
Student Bills, Payment Plans, and the New Payment Policy
In an effort to help our students plan financially and avoid unnecessary debt and collections, the University implemented a new payment policy that potentially impacts whether a student will remain enrolled in classes. The new policy will cancel a student’s course registration if sufficient payment arrangements aren’t in place by the established administrative cancellation date.

Important Changes in Residential Laundry Services
During the course of the students’ winter break, UMW, in partnership with laundry vendor Caldwell & Gregory, will implement a new laundry monitoring and payment platform that will be available on December 21, 2019. SpeedQueen’s WashAlert app will replace eSuds which is currently used for these laundry functions.
There are several impacts of the upgrade:
- New SpeedQueen washers and dryers will replace existing Maytag machines located throughout campus.
- The machines will operate with an app called WashAlert, which accepts debit and credit cards as payment methods. The machines also accept coin payment. The EagleOne card payment option will no longer be supported for laundry.
- Framar and South Halls gain monitoring and credit and debit card capabilities.
A detailed installation schedule and additional information about the WashAlert app will be shared with the residential community in the coming weeks. In the meantime, please feel free to contact the EagleOne card office at EagleOne@umw.edu for more information.
