Timely Warning – November 13, 2025
Update from Fredericksburg Police, November 14, at 2 p.m.
On November 13, 2025, at 7:54 p.m., the E-911 Center received a report of shots fired in the 800 block of William Street. Police and EMS responded to the scene and located one shooting victim, providing on-scene medical care. A second shooting victim was identified during the investigation. Both individuals were hospitalized for treatment and are currently in stable condition.
Detectives are still trying to identify an involved party described as a black male wearing no shirt and gray joggers. No additional description is available at this time. Preliminary findings indicate this was an isolated incident, and parties involved were known to one another.
This investigation is still ongoing, and detectives are on scene at this time. UMW Alert: Timely Warning Concluded
The shelter in place advisory has been lifted. Fredericksburg officers have determined the suspect has likely left the vicinity. Officers continue to remain on scene investigating.
If you encounter anyone matching the description – a black male with no shirt and gray joggers – please use caution and call police immediately. Do not approach.

Timely Warning Update – Shelter in place continues on the Fredericksburg Campus per the Fredericksburg Police advisory. Police are actively investigating an incident on William St.
Buildings on campus with automated access systems have been locked. Card access continues. Residential students should stay in their residence halls.

UMW Alert: Police are investigating an incident on William St. Fredericksburg Police have issued a shelter in place at which includes the Fredericksburg Campus.
Fredericksburg police is on the lookout for a black male wearing no shirt and grey joggers last seen in the area of College Ave and William Street. Individual is considered armed and dangerous do not approach. If seen contact UMWPD at 540-654-4444 or 911.
