Revised Policy E.9.3.1. Non-Instructional Dress Code

The Non-Instructional Dress Code Policy was revised February 6, 2015 to reflect the following change: Exceptions for Jeans - Jeans may be worn on Fridays. Jeans should be professional in appearance with no holes, slits, rips, or tears. Supervisors have discretion to determine appropriate dress, based on departmental business needs. New Policy: D.5.6. Military-Related Student Transfer Credit

The Military-Related Student Transfer Credits policy was approved February 21, 2014. The purpose of the policy is to provide flexibility for students in regard to the award of credit for military education and training and will help to increase degree completion among this population. Students who have served in the armed forces, or who continue to serve while enrolled in a higher education program, are particularly reliant upon the flexible transfer of credits because many of those completing a degree do not do so at the institution at which they first enrolled. This policy also provides clarity regarding UMW’s procedures for awarding credit for the military-related student’s prior military service, learning, and experience. New Policy: D.5.5. Military-Related Student Registration

The Military-Related Student Registration policy was adopted March 3, 2014. The purpose of the policy is to extend priority registration status to all students who are active duty military, reservists, veterans (as defined by Virginia Code § 23-7.4), and members of the Virginia National Guard. The policy provides these students with sufficient flexibility and accommodation to ensure that they are able to complete their educational plans in a timely manner and manage dual responsibilities as students and members of the military.
