At the University of Mary Washington, we believe that the journey to college begins long before senior year. Through our early high school programs, we’re dedicated to supporting students who are exploring their potential, building confidence, and preparing for life as future Eagles.
Our initiatives are designed to engage students early in their high school experience—especially those who will be the first in their families to attend college or who qualify for need-based support. By connecting with UMW now, students can discover academic pathways, experience college life, and develop the skills that lead to success in higher education.
Two signature opportunities form the foundation of this commitment:
Eagles in Flight
A collaborative program that partners with local schools to support first-generation and Pell-eligible students through mentorship, enrichment activities, and early exposure to the college experience.

Summer Enrichment Program
A summer learning experience that invites motivated high school students to explore academic interests, participate in engaging workshops, and build connections on UMW’s campus.
