Choose Your Concentration
General Business — build broad business, leadership, and strategic expertise to lead organizations effectively across industries and evolving global markets.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Business — learn how to use artificial intelligence and data tools to solve business problems, improve decision-making, and help organizations work smarter and more efficiently.
Entrepreneurial Leadership — develop the skills to start your own business, launch new ideas within a company, and confidently lead innovation in fast-changing markets.
Program Structure
Total Credits: 30
To earn your degree, students must complete all required core and elective courses with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Program Coursework
All MBA students complete the following core courses:
- GBUS 503 – Foundations in Financial Markets (3 credits)
- GBUS 521 – Leadership and Organizational Behavior (3 credits)
- GBUS 523 – Marketing Strategy (3 credits)
- GBUS 527 – Accounting for Decision Making and Control (3 credits)
- GBUS 528 – Financial Management (3 credits)
- GBUS 529 – Strategic Management (3 credits)
Students in the General Business concentration will select four additional elective courses from the 500-level GBUS or MMIS course catalog.
Total credits for this concentration: 30
Students in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Business concentration will take the following courses in addition to the core courses:
- GBUS 562 – AI Language Models (3 credits)
- GBUS 563 – AI Solutions for Business (3 credits)
- GBUS 568 – AI and Business Strategy (3 credits)
- Students will also select one additional elective course
Total credits for this concentration: 30
Students in the Entrepreneurial Leadership concentration will take the following courses in addition to the core courses:
- GBUS 506 – Entrepreneurial Leadership Fundamentals (3 credits)
- GBUS 517 – Creativity and Design Thinking (3 credits)
- GBUS 549 – Corporate Entrepreneurship (3 credits)
- Students will also select one additional elective course
Total credits for this concentration: 30

Online full-time: 12-18 months for completion
Online part-time: 24-36 months for completion
All coursework should be finished within six years of beginning the program, giving you flexibility while staying on track toward graduation.
Admissions Requirements
Admissions requirements for the MBA program at UMW include:
- Completion of an application (free to apply)
- Official transcripts, showing completion of a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university
- Goal statement
- Two letters of recommendation (professional and/or academic)
- Resumé outlining work experience and education
