First-year merit scholarships may be available to you as an international student. If you apply to UMW using our test-choice policy, scholarships of $1,000 – $9,000 will still be available based on your high school’s curriculum strength.

Talon Awards with Test Optional
Talon Awards with Test Optional are based on cumulative GPA (weighted) when provided and the high school curriculum’s strength. Here is a general guide to curriculum strength.

Average = Minimum graduation requirements
Upon admission, international students are automatically considered for a merit scholarship between $1,000 and $9,000 USD based on high school academic record. An additional $8,000 award will be applied to international students on F-1 visa status. These scholarships are renewable for up to three additional years of continuous undergraduate study at UMW.
Graduates of International Language Academy (ILA) coming to UMW directly are eligible for scholarships.
Scholarships are determined based on the academic record provided with the application for admission. No additional scholarship application is necessary for merit consideration. Scholarship awards will be included in the official offer of admission to the university.
