Admitted Student Benefits

  • $1000 Scholarship (split over Fall and Spring semesters of $500 each.)
  • The scholarship will cover up to six semesters.
  • Students must be declared in the BS in Business Administration or intend to declare that major.
  • Students must be enrolled full-time.
  • Students must maintain a 2.0 or better grade point average.

Admission Requirements

  • Applicant must be admissible as a transfer student to UMW.
  • Either completing or possessing a transferable business associates degree from Germanna Community College or Northern Virginia Community College.
  • UMW strongly encourages equivalents to Acct I and II, Stat 180, Micro and Macro Econ from VCCS or other sources.

Major in business administration at the University of Mary Washington, and you’ll position yourself to succeed in the corporate world or as an entrepreneur. Students majoring in Business Administration who complete all requirements earn the degree of Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Business Administration. To receive a bachelor’s degree in business administration in your chosen accounting, general business, or marketing major, you will earn 48 credits, 30 core business course credits, and 18 upper-level elective credits.

UMW’s bachelor’s program in business administration lets you major in accounting, general business, or
marketing. In addition, the program covers information systems and applications, applied statistics, business research, the legal environment of business, principles of management, federal taxation, organizational behavior, human resource management, decision analysis, principles of finance, commercial law, consumer behavior, leadership theory and practice, negotiation, and more.

Business administration majors become account managers, brokerage clerks, employment interviewers,
fundraising specialists, human resource managers, insurance underwriters, investment brokers, accountants,
Realtors, marketing specialists, purchasing agents, and more. You’ll find internship opportunities at UMW near campus, Washington, D.C., and Richmond, Virginia.
