Summer is the perfect time for high school students and their families to get an early start on their college search and there are three ways for you to experience the University of Mary Washington.

Enhanced Summer Visit

Enhanced Summer Visits provide visitors an in-depth experience as they stroll along UMW’s tree-lined Campus Walk, get a glimpse inside its brick buildings and inviting classrooms, and brush up on what the UMW experience entails.

Enhanced Summer Visits include information about admissions, financial aid, and offers the chance to talk one-on-one with Mary Washington’s academic leaders and deans.

These dates usually occur in July and August and will be publicized as soon as they are final.

Daily Tours

We offer guided campus tours every weekday at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, each paired with an information session led by a UMW Admissions counselor.

Weekend visits include an 10:00 AM information session, followed by a campus tour.

Self Guided Walking Tour

Not able to find a date or time that works for you? Our campus is open to visitors all year long. We invite you to have a look around on a Self-Guided Walking Tour. While you’re here, please drop by the Welcome Center for a t-shirt!

Plan Ahead

Make sure to bring your walking shoes and plan ahead. While our campus includes modern updates, it still holds historic charm as you’ll navigate through brick pathways and buildings. Take a look at our Maps and Directions page for campus map and accessibility map to plan your visit.

There’s a lot to love on our 234-acre campus – the warm, welcoming Mary Wash community most of all. After a UMW campus tour, explore our quaint Fredericksburg charm – bustling with rich history, vibrant arts, and the great outdoors. If you’re a foodie or coffee-lover, you’re also in the right place. Come visit, and we’ll show you all we have to offer. The truth is, you can’t really get us until you see us for yourself.
